注意深く目をそらすこと。
見えるところ以上の何かを表すには、
あえて目を向けず、
注意深く五感を傾け問う必要があるのではないか。
モノに溢れる今こそ目を閉じて瞑想するように
己のうちなるものと対峙し、
目の前にないものを感じて心にとめて、
霧の向こうの微かな
光の音を聞く。

私は子供の頃、絵が得意だったというわけではありませんでした。最初に図工を教えてくれた先生から言われた、「見た通りに描きなさい」という言葉を守って描いた絵が、”子供らしい絵ではない”と言われて途方にくれた、何故という思いからスタートしました。
それから時がたち、高校卒業の時に、絵の学校を受験する交換条件として、公務員試験を受けることを、当時絵の道に進むことを反対していた親と約束しました。その結果、公務員試験の方だけ通って学校が駄目だったので、公務員の道に進むことになりました。一年経った頃、絵に対する思いが消えるどころか反対に強くなっている自分に気がつきました。そして、居ても立ってもいられなくなり、公務員をやめて絵を一生続けて行く道を選びました。そして、現在まで、描くということに対しての求めは続いています。

When I was a child, I wasn't particularly good at drawing. The first art teacher told me to "draw what you see," so I drew a picture, but he said "it was not a childlike picture," and I was at a loss. I started out by wondering why.
Time passed, , and when I graduated from high school, I promised my parents, who were opposed to my pursuit of painting at the time, that I would take the civil service examination in exchange for taking the entrance exam for the art school. As a result, I only took the civil service exam and failed at school, so I became a civil servant. After a year had passed, I realized that my feelings for painting had not disappeared, but rather had become stronger than ever. I could no longer stand still and decided to quit the civil service and continue painting for the rest of my life. And to this day, I continue to pursue my passion for painting.
